NJTOP Program
Rowan’s New Jersey Teacher Outreach Program (NJTOP) programs are committed to a university-school partnership centered on the belief there should be a collaborative relationship between public schools and the university to better prepare teachers and cultivate administrators. Relationships between public schools and universities can be beneficial for both groups and the following advantages are characteristic of NJTOP programs:
NJTOP removes the isolation felt in the public school classroom where teachers from all grades and subjects meet together to discuss content, methodologies, and common challenges
NJTOP programs and faculty provide professional growth while responding to real needs faced by teachers every day. NJTOP programs provide a venue for a regular exchange of information about innovative educational practices between teachers and university faculty.Public school teachers enrolled in NJTOP courses offer Rowan’s faculty a realistic view of what public education really is, and ways to effectively create learning communities within classrooms.
