The M.A. in Reading Education at Rowan University is nationally accredited by the National Council for Accreditation in Teacher Education in conjunction with the International Reading Association. It is designed for those who have an initial teaching license and want to expand their knowledge, skills, and dispositions in teaching literacy and coaching paraprofessionals and colleagues. The course of study provides students with an understanding of the basic principles of developmental and remedial reading instruction for grades P-12. Students acquire advanced knowledge of the reading process and engage in hands on experiences diagnosing and teaching learners who have difficulty with literacy acquisition.
